Haidara Foundation for Peace and Human Development started the first phase of
the economic empowerment project for the poor, displaced and needy families, funded by the Pure Hands Organization and supervised by the National Authority for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The project aims to improve the standard of living of the targeted families by granting them income-generating projects and training the heads of those families to manage their projects in an optimal way to ensure their durability and achieve their desired goals.
She explained that the project, which comes within the framework of the celebration of the Prophet’s birthday, includes the distribution of sewing machines and accessories, motorcycles, mobile kiosks, pastry production plants and stationery tools for the beneficiary families and the organization of training programs to provide heads of household crafts.
The first phase consists of collecting data, identifying beneficiaries and training them to implement and manage their projects, and in the subsequent stages, implementation plans for those projects will be developed and distributed to beneficiary families.
Al-Maeedhi confirmed that the geographical scope of the implementation of the project has been limited to the directorates of the Sab’een, Alwehda, Ma’in, Azal and Sha’oob in the capital’s secretariat, with four beneficiary families for each district. To ensure the correctness of the data to the nomination of the most needy cases within the final list of beneficiaries.
The standards for selecting beneficiary families were the absence of a breadwinner or a fixed source of income, as well as a focus on female densely-populated households with higher education levels, as well as displaced groups and those with special needs.
She said that the Foundation will distribute integrated food baskets to the beneficiary families for a period of three months from October to December in order to ensure coverage of their food needs in the early stages of the implementation of income-generating projects. The President of the Foundation appreciated the cooperation of the National Authority for the Management and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs with the Haidara Foundation and the Pure Hands Organization for the implementation of the economic empowerment project by providing facilities for the team and overcome any difficulties during the implementation of the project in the targeted areas.
